Joffre Group Mountaineering Trip
A
three-day trip mountain adventure into the famous Joffre Group, a spectacular
glaciated alpine granite playground just three hours north of Vancouver off
the Duffy Lake road. Itinerary includes steep snow and glacier travel, crevasse
rescue, self-belays and self-arrests, snow and ice anchors, and the chance to
climb Mt. Matier or Mt. Joffre.
Location
Coast Mountains of British Columbia, close to
Pemberton on the Duffy Lake Road (60 mins north of Whistler, 2.5 hrs north of
Vancouver).
Dates
Late June to September.
Itinerary
Day
1:
Meet at the Pony Espresso coffee shop in Pemberton at 7:00 am. Depart for the
Trailhead (Cerise Creek), about 45 mins. Hike up to a high camp at the Matier-Joffre
col. Glacier travel, crevasse rescue, and steep snow climbing instruction en
route.
Day 2: Attempt Mt. Matier
via the NE or N Face routes.
Day 3: Climb another
peak (e.g. Mt Harzel, Mt. Joffre) and exit, either the way we came (via Anniversary
Glacier) or via Joffre Lakes.
Cost
$640/person (group of 2 or more). If you
are an individual we may be able to place you with another individual
or group.

Your own equipment, food, transportation, and
insurance (accident, travel, medical, trip cancellation).
